Conway, SC - In a press conference held today, Horry-Georgetown Technical College announced the completion of the Building Success Campaign. The foundation was also presented with the $125,000 Challenge Grant by Doug Wendel, President of Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc.

“The Challenge Grant and the Building Success Campaign raised a combined total of over $375,000, increasing the campaign goal by 30%,” said Neyle Wilson, President of Horry-Georgetown Technical College. “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all of the donors and Burroughs & Chapin for their generous contributions that made our campaign a success. This program will not only benefit the students, it will foster continued growth in our area.”

The Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation established the Building Success Campaign, in an effort to support a number of college initiatives that focus on programs such as the Construction Management Technology Associate Degree, as well as the Legacy Fund for Workforce Development. Campaigns such as these are designed to supplement the rising costs of high-tech learning through the support of local businesses and individuals.

“Horry and Georgetown Counties are two of the fastest growing areas in the State. Employers from all over are seeking well-trained employees but have had to hire from outside areas due to the lack of training provided in local schools and colleges,” said Berkley White, President of Classic Home Building & Design. “I believe the Construction Management Technology Associate Degree program at HGTC will provide students with the training they will need to keep up in our growing area and thrive in the construction industry.”

During the conference the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation presented awards to the campaign’s top contributors. Doug Wendel, President of Burroughs & Chapin Company, Inc., received Construction Management Program Campaign Donor of the Year Award and Mr. A. Shaw Dargan III, of Dargan Foundation was awarded the Construction Management Program Campaign Partner of the Year Award.

Speakers for today’s event included Neyle Wilson, President of Horry-Georgetown Technical College, Doug Wendel, President of Burroughs and Chapin Company, Inc., Tom Maeser, President of the Horry-Georgetown Technical College Foundation and Berkley White, President of Classic Home Building & Design.
